Donating Furniture, San Antonio, Texas

If you are moving into or out of the San Antonio, Texas, area, then you may be curious about San Antonio furniture donation and pick up. Whether you are moving, downsizing, or simply buying new furniture, it is important to know how to donate in San Antonio. Additionally, it is helpful to be aware of the donation pickup locations available to you. Instead of enlisting the help of neighbors to load old household items into the trash or onto the curb for bulk trash pick up, consider making donations instead.

There are several reasons why donating gently used furniture is a good idea. One great reason for donating household goods is to help those in need. Opting to donate can get your furniture into the hands of families who may not be able to afford it on their own. Additionally, donating used furniture can help to save the environment, ensuring that it won’t end up in local area landfills.

Also, furniture donations are oftentimes tax-exempt. Just make sure you hang on to any receipts and quickly appraise any items you donate. Make sure you also charge fair market value when filing taxes. Fair market value is the amount that a buyer would pay today for the furniture in its current condition. You can find donation valuation guidelines on the IRS’s website. Goodwill also has good resources on their website.

Please keep in mind that Chapa’s Moving Service does not assist with your furniture donations and subsequent pick up. But we have put together this list of charities and organizations that do! However, if you are donating furniture as a result of a pending relocation, we are here to assist you with your move!
